When using the Rule of Third, you have to position the photograph to match a line of the thirds. We were set a task to take photographs and edit them to fit these thirds. On the edited photographs I have made the third lines visible so you can understand.
For the picture of a motor-scooter, I didn't have to scale or rotate it. However, I did have to move it down slightly to have the speedometer, fuel gauge, and indicators were in line with the bottom line of third.
This is a photograph of my youngest cat, Willow. I first used Colour Balance to take out most of the yellow. Then I scaled up the photograph and lined it up so that the eye is in line with the line of third on the left and the nose is in line with the bottom third.
For my woodpecker, I first brought up the vibrance to make the red stand out more against the dark hollowed part of the woodpecker. Then I scaled it up and moved the woodpecker more into the corner so that the eye is in line with the connecting point of the top line and the left line of the rule of third.
For my flower I first darkened the background by lowering both the vibrance and the brightness. Then I scaled and moved my flower so the stigma is in line with the connecting point of the top line of third and the right line of third.
For my row of bushes, I brought up the saturation first. After that I slightly rotated the photograph so that the bushes are in a straighter line. Then I scaled it so that the bottom line of third runs through the centre of my bushes.
