For this photograph, i thought it was good because it has the little lines reaching up but also The thicker planks of wood reaching up.
This photograph was of a tree branching off in many different directions but all reaching upwards, never downwards.

The trunk of this tree is made up of three separate trunks all reaching upward but wrapping around each other.
The direction of the trees heading up causes the viewers eyes to follow up the tree toward the top of the photograph.
With the steps heading toward the back of the photograph, it causes the viewer to follow to the back corner of the photograph with the steps.
