These are the chosen pieces for my final photography;
Lights In Motion
The main focus of this photograph is the lights, these are also the sharpest point. The lighting used in the photograph is artificial lighting as the lights are the object the photograph is of. Since the background is pitch black it makes it obvious that the photograph was taken during the night. The dominant lines in the photograph are the lights, the thickness of the light depends on how big the original light was. The lights indicate movement because they leave a trail behind that shows the path they have followed, this also causes the viewer to follow the path left behind. The lights are repeated as there were many lights along a row when the photograph was taken. The photograph doesn't really have a texture because there was nothing that I could touch as the lights were out of reach. The main colours in the photograph are red, yellow and blue. Red and Yellow symbolise energy and Blue symbolises peace meaning when people see the lights they feel peaceful but the movement of the lights in the photograph shows they have lots of energy. I used Photoshop to darken the sky slightly so that the colour of the lights appeared more vibrant.
Cheeky Flash
The main focus of the photograph is the ballerina with her skirt stuck in her under garments. The sharpest point is heart in the background as the photograph is blue but the heart is red and thus boldly stands out against the blue. The lighting in the photograph is artificial and come from the heart and some blue spotlights out of view. Since everything is dark it is obvious that it was taken at night. The dominant lines in the photograph is the waterfalls in the heart and the spraying water over the ballerinas. The water in the heart is just falling straight down but the spraying water is curved as it arches over the ballerinas. If I could touch the surface of the photograph I would feel the wetness of the water, the fabric of the ballerina's clothes and the glass from the lights. The main colours in the photograph are red and blue. Red symbolises passion which matches the heart and Blue symbolises confidence as being a ballerina requires confidence. I used photoshop so that the redness of the heart was more vibrant so it didn't appear dull next to all the blue. I also position the photograph so the hand of the middle ballerina and the point of the heart are in line with the top line of the rule of third.
Loving Blue
The main focus of the photograph is the mini fountain in front of the blue heart. The sharpest point though would be the purple windows in the background as the different colour is bold and clashes with the blue colour scheme. The photograph was taken at night so the light comes from the artificial lighting of the heart and the blue spotlights. The dominant lines in the photograph is the lines that make the heart. Since they are making a heart shape they lines are curved. If I could touch the surface of the photograph I would feel The water spray from the mini fountain, the wood of the side column, the lights that make up the heart and the plastic that makes up the background decoration. There is tone in the column as the further away from the stage it is, the darker the column becomes. The main colours in this photograph is blue, brown and purple. Blue symbolises loyalty which matches the heart as love needs loyalty to work, Purple symbolises mystery which works because there is a silhouette of someone in the purple window but they aren't identified and Brown symbolises stability which matches because the column is what is keeping the structure together. I didn't rely edit this one so I didn't use Photoshop.
Classic Blackpool
The main focus of the photograph is the Big Wheel and The Blackpool Tower. The sharpest point is the big wheel as the colour and lights appear clearer than everything else. The least sharp point is the lights at the side as they blend together and sort of whiteout the side. The dominant lines in the photograph are the streetlights and Blackpool Tower. Blackpool Tower looks like it's made of lines curling together to form a basic tower shape. The streetlights repeat themselves all the way down the street creating a line of light balls. If I could touch the surface of the photograph I wouldn't really feel anything except the people passing by because the lights on the photograph are too far away. The main colours in the photograph are yellow and purple. Yellow symbolises happiness and looking at the attractions makes me feel happy and Purple symbolises extravagance and the tower and big wheel were made using lots of money just because they could. I used Photoshop to make the row of lights along the pier in line with the bottom line in the rule of thirds.
Royal Carlton
The main focus of the photograph is the sign for The Royal Carlton. The sharpest point is also the sign as it is the most important part of the building to let people know where they are. The least sharp point would be the windows at the bottom of the pub. The lighting for this photograph comes from the artificial neon lights that wrap around the building. The dominant lines in the photograph are the lights on the tower at the side of the building. These are the dominant lines because they are repeated all the way around the tower and form a shape that even when it is really dark you can tell the shape of the tower from the lights. If I could touch the surface of the photograph I would feel the bumpy texture of the pub walls, the wooden benches outside the pub and the glass windows and doors of the pub. The closer to the light, the brighter the tone of colour is. The further away it gets from the lights source, the darker the tone of colour is. The main colours in the photograph are blue and purple. Blue symbolises calmness which mean you can have a calm, quiet drink here at this pub and Purple symbolises luxury meaning that the pub is of high standard and high class. I didn't use Photoshop to edit this as I thought it looked good as it is.
Passing By
The main focus of this photograph is the train that passes by. The sharpest point is also the train as it is bold in colour and stands out against the dark, black background. The lighting in this photograph is artificial and comes from the train itself as it goes past. The dominant lines in the photograph are the light trails left behind by the train as it passes the camera. These lines cover the entire middle area of the photograph and are defiantly what grabs the attention of the viewer. I wouldn't try to touch the surface of the photograph as it is dangerous to try to touch a moving train but if the train wasn't moving I would feel the cold metal of the train and the glass of the lights on the train. The main colours on the photograph are red and green. Green symbolises stability meaning that the train is safe and stable on the tracks and Red symbolises energy meaning the lights from the train are showing energy. I used Photoshop to make the colours on the train more vibrant so that it was easier to see them against the background.
